Moving experience
| | We're moving. Not far, just next door, to the house we've been remodeling for the last year or so. |
| | We're not doing it all at once, mostly because the house isn't done yet. But some stuff needs to move over, just to make sure the infrastructure is running. |
| | So yesterday Verizon cut us off here (at the old place) before they turned us on at the new place, which isn't fully hooked up yet. And even so, they still only have two of our four lines working so far, and only to the box outside the house. Meanwhile, we're waiting for the electrician, who put in our new structured wiring system, which is still missing pieces in the wiring cabinet. |
| | Also yesterday the DishTV guy came to move our service over to the new place. I was on a very tight deadline to get today's SuitWatch newsletter done, so I couldn't participate, except to enlist one of the painters to help me carry our 11-year-old 100-pound big-ass Sony TV over to the new place. It was after I had tipped the guy and he had left that I noticed that he put the dish too high on the wall, so it was in plain view instead of hidden (the whole idea of having it on that particular wall behind the roof of the garage). Meanwhile we are TV-less here at the old place 'cuz there's no way we're moving that sucker back over here. Fortunately, there's nothing on. |
| | Then this morning the Net was down. We have Cox's residential and business services. For some reason both weren't working. Turns out the business service was cut off before the cable had even been pulled to the new place, or even a work order issued. The residential? Who knows. After an hour on the phone trying to figure out the problem, it just came back up. But it's flaky. |
| | Par for the moving course, I know. Just had to bitch about it a little. |
